How pre-event swipe works

Pre-event swipe is a mechanic where attendees browse other profiles before the event and decide: Like / Maybe / Pass.

How to enable it

In the event create/edit form (staff panel), check the "Pre-event swipe" checkbox. Requires a Growth or Business plan.

What the attendee sees

After registering, the attendee gets an "Open pre-event swipe" button. There they see HTMX cards with other attendees - name, company, industry, description, LinkedIn. Three actions: Like / Maybe / Pass.

Matcher algorithm

When the event starts:

  1. The matcher collects mutual likes (both sides liked) - and pairs them first in round 1.
  2. Everyone else is paired via a random shuffle (deterministic seed for repeatability).
  3. Industry complementarity bonus - people from different industries are preferred for pairing (instead of 2 from FinTech).
  4. Mutual pass = hard avoid (the system avoids that pair).

Re-entry

An attendee can come back to swiping and rate newly registered attendees. Already-rated ones don't show up again.

Privacy

Other attendees can't see your choices. Mutual likes are only revealed after the event (through pairing + the report).
